Hanoi hopes for closer cultural co-operation with Stockholm

Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong, also Politburo member of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Central Committee, was speaking to Stockholm Mayor Barry Andersson in a reception in Hanoi on June 20th.

After briefing his guest of Hanoi’s preparations for its millennium founding anniversary in 2010, the municipal Party leader expressed the wish to learn experiences from and enhance exchange activities with the Swedish capital.

Mr. Andersson praised Hanoi as a peaceful city having time-honoured cultural traditions and endowed with natural beauty. The Stockholm mayor held that Hanoi enjoys favourable conditions for tourism development thanks to its fine weather and its people’s hospitality.

The same day, Chairman of the Hanoi’s People Committee Nguyen Quoc Trieu had a working session with the Swedish guest.

The municipal leaders touched upon socio-economic and urban development issues. They also discussed ways to boost bilateral investment, trade and tourism cooperation.
